Tiger Cub Lock-in 1999

On the night of January 29, 1999, 131 Tiger Cubs from the Great Plains District attended the annual Tiger Cub Lock-in. The Tigers and their Partners were treated to an evening of crafts, games, and activities with the theme "Tigers on Safari". Thirty local Packs were represented. A dedicated staff of over two dozen Scouts and Scouters from across the District acted as "Safari Guides" as the Tigers lived out their motto of "Search, Discover, Share". Here are a few scenes from the event.

Tigers explored a dozen different activities including
Craft Stick Critters, a Sand Art Lion, a "Popcorn
Art" coloring project, and an Origami Tiger.

Partners helped their Tigers with "Safari Binoculars",
the "Veggie Zoo", "Chenille Stem Snakes", and the
"Kookaburra Catch-it Cone". (remember the song?)

Activities Committee Chairman Barbara Rodda and
Junior Staffers Jason and Billy helped Tigers
assemble their "Safari Binoculars".

The Tigers had a lot of fun on a "Butterfly Hunt",
playing "Feeding Time at the Zoo", and running a
"Beanie Baby Relay" with their new friends.

Photographers Kip and "Aunt Alice" Moravec took
great pictures of Tigers with a big furry friend. Even
event director Genny White got a souvenir photo.

After a pizza break, the happy Tigers ended their
evening with a special visit from Order of the Arrow
dancers Eric and Mitchell and DE Rodney Carpenter.
